Earth Day Bracelet

Earth Day Bracelet

Celebrated annually on April 22, Earth Day promotes environmental protection and provides a wonderful opportunity to educate both children and adults about environmental issues. Earth Day lesson plans often include activities that teach children the importance of protecting the environment and emphasize the different ways children and their families can help protect the environment. Crafts that repurpose recycled materials are also a popular way to celebrate Earth Day.

As part of your classroom's Earth Day celebrations, try making these adorable Earth Day Bracelets with your students. For children ages four and up, the Earth Day Bracelet craft incorporates the use of bottle caps to make pendants that children can decorate with Earth Day designs. It's the perfect memento to remind children about the importance of caring for our planet!

What You Need:

1Make Pendants with Model Magic®

Form a ball with the Model Magic®, and then use a rolling pin or your hands to flatten it into a layer about ¼" thick. Use a bottle cap to cut out the pendants, and then use a small straw to make a hole at the top of each pendant. Let the pendants fully dry overnight before proceeding to the next step. If you're working with older students, you can use Crayola® Air-Dry Clay instead of Model Magic® for the pendants.

2Decorate Pendants with Acrylic Paint

Paint both sides of the pendants blue. After the blue paint has dried, ask children to paint a design, such as hearts, flowers, or mini continents, on their pendants to celebrate Earth Day. Let the pendants fully dry.

3Assemble the Bracelets

String a piece of yarn through the hole at the top of each pendant. Tie a simple knot to keep the pendant in place, and then tie each child's Earth Day Bracelet around their wrist.
