How To Build Custom Learning Kits For Your Early Childhood Classroom

Every child has unique learning styles, interests, and innate strengths that lend to their academic success. Learning kits, especially those with customizable items, are a great way to enhance the effectiveness of classroom lessons and provide children with materials that support their learning at school and at home.

Kaplan supplies early learning classrooms with customized learning kits that enrich classroom curricula, fortify learning centers, and help children meet developmental goals by improving skills such as math, literacy, STEM, and social-emotional development. This article will share an in-depth look at our custom kit creation process and how these kits supplement classroom and at-home learning while providing educators with resources that meet the needs of every child.

What is a Kaplan custom kit?

A Kaplan custom kit is a collection of items explicitly packaged to meet the educational needs of children in your care. The items in this kit can include, but are not limited to, children's books, sensory items, puppets, musical instruments, art supplies, and more.

These kits are a great way to enrich your classroom curriculum, fortify classroom learning centers, and support developmental growth while children are at home learning alongside parents and caregivers.

When should I consider a Kaplan custom kit?

If you realize your current early childhood curriculum and classroom materials are not meeting the educational needs of the children in your care, and you can't find exactly what you need in an existing kit, consider a custom kit. These kits will help children build foundational literacy, math, social and emotional skills – and more!

While we currently offer curriculum support kits, family engagement kits, school readiness kits, and many more, we realize these options may not be a fit for everyone. With Kaplan's custom kit services, you can choose from existing Kaplan products and have your items packaged, boxed, and shipped to your centers.

What items can you add to your Kaplan custom kit?

Your custom kit order can include a variety of items found on the Kaplan website. Some of our most requested kit options include infant/toddler toys, children’s books, social-emotional supports, literacy tools, summer learning loss, sensory items, puppets, musical instruments, and curriculum-specific resources.

If you have any questions about specific items you can include in your custom kit, please get in touch with a member of our sales team. They will happily help you create a kit that meets the needs of every child in your care.

Does a Kaplan custom kit include resources to help implement the materials?

Yes! To help educators, families, and caregivers implement the kit materials in the classroom and at home, you can request custom activity cards, teacher guides, and other printed materials that include links to videos and/or articles that explain how to use each item in the kit and extend learning. You can also customize your kit packaging to include a school logo or classroom name.

Please be aware these special requests are not a standard inclusion and could increase the price of your custom kit order. You can speak with a Kaplan Educational Sales Rep for a list of all special requests and standard kit inclusions.

What is the average cost of a Kaplan custom kit?

Many variables determine the cost of a Kaplan custom kit. The items you choose, the number of kits needed, and special requests all impact our pricing. That said, you can expect to spend around $75 to $150 per kit.

How long does it take Kaplan to build and deliver a custom kit order?

After receiving your approved purchase order, our merchandising team will build your custom kit order. If some items are not in stock, we may need to order them before building your custom kit. Once we build all of your kits, we will ship them to the location/s of your choosing. Shipping times may vary, but we will do our best to deliver your kits within your requested timeframe.

What if I place an order with a high quantity of kits?

An increased quantity of custom kits will increase the time it takes us to build and ship your order. If you have a tight delivery deadline, please let us know before placing your custom kit order so we can do our best to accommodate your needs.

Can Kaplan ship custom kits to multiple locations?

Yes! We can ship your custom kits to as many locations as you provide. This is a big benefit for customers who order custom kits for multiple schools or facilities.
